While all Presidents should return classified documents to the National Archives , there are major differences between the Trump documents and the Biden documents and how they were handled . In the Spring of 2021 the National Archives requested Trump return the documents. After repeated requests and failing to comply with a subpoena 6 months later they received 15 boxes containing over 200 documents. Trump also falsely claimed that he declassified all the documents . Biden had 20 documents and when they were discovered they were returned to the National Archives the next day .
