Addressing the problems caused by unruly crowds of belligerent teenagers is important but I think it is better addressed through physical police presence on the promenade, not surveillance cameras. Surveillance cameras are a slippery slope into a “big brother” police state, spying on citizens and residents and using the footage for revenue streams. A community coalition through physical police presence is a better approach. Surveillance cameras on the beach can set a dangerous precedent and not good use of taxpayer funds.
