Last month Cape May Councilman Chris Bezaire pleaded guilty in Superior Court to stalking a former girlfriend and contempt of court. Stalking is included as a crime against women in the 1994 Violence Against Women Act. Even if you don’t know him or the woman involved, it is not excusable behavior for an elected official to stalk, cyber-harass and lie to the public about his actions. Bezaire needs to resign his office. This is not a call from political opponents - it’s a call for decency, justice and less acceptance of domestic violence.
