The piece about less volunteers focused on EMT, but overall the real reason? Poor outreach on the part of organizations that might need volunteers and volunteer "squatters" who hang on to a position which doesnt open a slot for others who might want a turn. Maybe a county-wide or city by city list of volunteer openings, groups, clubs etc would be more helpful than bringing up a study that doesn't apply and blaming CMC's "aging population" for the shortage.
