On Jan. 6th, hundreds of supporters of Trump charged inside the Capitol to overturn an election the ex-president had repeatedly and falsely claimed was stolen. They were stealing souvenirs, looting offices, smashing doors and defacing statues, amid calls to “Hang Mike Pence!” Many shoved and beat officers, one of whom later died. In the summer amid BLM protests, Trump called the protesters “thugs” and said, “When the looting starts, the shooting starts.” Why the double standard?
