In Trump’s June 26th executive order he effectively gave his administration the power to go after “left-wing extremist” in places where his administration can deem that local authorities “appear” to be unable to perform their duties and have “surrendered to mob rule.” This is troubling on many levels, not least of which because it is a president giving himself the authority to send federal officers anywhere he sees fit for vague reasons and to target groups that he is attempting to connect to his political opponents.
