Freeholders , Sheriff Nolan, and municipalities should discuss a county wide police department. The infrastructure is already in place . The sheriffs department has court security, a warrants unit, correctional division , K-9 unit, internal affairs unit, transport unit, traffic division, and has a foot print in the entire county. It would take little effort to merge all departments into one. All officers would have the same training and opportunity for advancement. Nepotism of hiring relatives would be eliminated. Cost savings would be huge. Property taxes would be reduced.
