A spouter asked, "Is there any code enforcement in Middle Township? There is a yellow house on Route 9 with peeling paint that screams at you as you ride south on the Parkway." Peeling paint may really be an eyesore and run down neighborhood property values, however, it is not illegal. Chapter 193 of Middle Twp. Property Maintenance Code simply states in 193-16.1 the exterior of the property must be maintained in a clean and sanitary condition. While an annoyed neighbor might interpret that to mean a fresh coat of paint, I think the homeowner would prevail in court. Sanitary, not pretty.
