A look at the Cape May County Bridge Commission's most recent (Dec. 2014) financial statements shows that salaries and benefits for commissioners, administrative and toll collectors totaled $2,496,808. Toll and other revenue was $2,798,082. This means more than 89 percent of revenue goes directly to paying staff. Why is this commission allowed to exist? Whenever repairs or construction needs to be done, bonds are issued anyway to pay for it.
