A spouter who suggested getting a head start on the bicycle problem now is dead on. Towns spend thousands of dollars combating noise violations every summer, but dangerous cyclists are ignored. All of us have had close calls and all of us have seen the police ignore bicycles committing violations that would get a motorist an expensive traffic summons. The people who ride to work or ride as a serious hobby are usually pretty good and safe, but in the summer, we get thousands of recreational cyclists who have no concept of how dangerous it is to operate on busy seashore streets.
