An article in a local weekly reports that the City of Wildwood was the seventh most dangerous place to visit or live in, in the entire country, based on RoadSnacks' assessment of FBI statistics, and, of course prompting an immediate denial by the mayor. With tourism as its major industry, doesn't this call for an immediate expansion of the number of regular police? What tourist reading this, especially moms, would risk a vacation if they don't feel safe? It certainly is worth the additional cost.
Moderator's Note: The mayor is right in the aforementioned article in saying this does not paint the correct picture because the statistics are skewed. The population swells tremendously during the summer months and that's not reflected in the analysis.
