I read with amusement the Upper Township spouter who is under the delusion that it was only the power of capitalism that allowed the Plymouth colony to flourish. The only reason that the colony survived was through the generosity of the indigenous people, who had been living there for thousands of years, and returned that generosity with disease, exploitation and outright theft. Not to mention genocide to those whose freedom of religion did not coincide with the Puritan belief system.
