The federal government needs to end the national flood insurance program. Government shouldn't be in the insurance business. Barrier island residents need to find private sector insurance in the free market. I have no sympathy for anyone who lives on the barrier islands. If you don't like flooding, move. Don't ask taxpayers to pump sand on the beach to protect your own home or to give free insurance for living in the riskiest places. Barrier island residents need to get over their sense of entitlement.
