Barrier islands were never meant to be built on or to live on. It is time to cut these barrier island welfare queens off by terminating beach replenishment and the national flood insurance program. The government needs to stop encouraging stupid behavior like living near the ocean. It is absolutely stupid to continue beach replenishment. Let the ocean wipe the barrier islands clean.
