Actually, firefighters have nothing to do with the lack of big or small fires in recent years. It's better building code enforcement, the emergence of stricter sprinkler requirements, and older buildings being replaced with safer, newer ones. Don't be fooled by a few firefighters claiming to be saving the world. If any people should be getting credit and probably raises, it's the folks in the building department. They're actually out there making buildings safe, not sitting on their bums collecting huge salaries.
