I read in the Gazette that the finance dept. identified $84,000 in unspent capital appropriations. They want to now spend it on sally ports for the police station and HVAC improvements at town hall. How about using that money for fixing Hand Avenue? Every time I drive down it, I feel like I'm in Syria. Or how about using that money to start an after-school program for kids to play basketball, indoor soccer, etc., to keep them from eventually ending up in the sally ports. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, Benjamin Franklin once said.
