Our town is constantly changing. There are many new municipal structures that lend an air of substance to the former fishing village. Modern homes are replacing small cottages. There is a "rule" on the books that requires builders to plant a tree in front of each new home. Why is that rule not enforced? The overall appearance of our community would be greatly improved by enforcing this law as we go forward. Could this rule be enforced retroactively? The city should plant trees in front of the homes to which they granted occupancy permits when the builder failed to fulfill this obligation.
