Once again, sand that was pumped on the beach to protect the homes of the wealthy washed away. It's time to stop wasting tax dollars on beach replenishment. I have no sympathy for residents of barrier islands. The federal and state government need to eliminate beach replenishment and the national flood insurance. Stop encouraging and rewarding people for living in high-risk areas near water. Let the ocean swallow the barrier island homes. Taxpayers are not obligated to protect the homes of the wealthy.
