My generation (X) has seen the Republican Party go from representing big business years ago to being a party driven by a minority of right-wing, religious activists who also take a non-compromise position on gun control and climate change. My generation and younger ones want to side with the Republican Party but just can't because of the activist direction being taken. This is why the Republican Party struggles and needs to adjust before they can win.
