A spout said graduates leave the area because there are no jobs. CMC offers teenagers more of an opportunity in life skills than other areas of the country or inner city. These are in the form of summer jobs that help them develop responsibility in many ways. Not every student is college material, but parents, schools and others continue to push in this direction. There are labor shortages in the skilled trades; these are good paying jobs. Most in the service sectors are relatively unaffected by the economy, this does not hold true for new construction.
