While driving in downtown Avalon in crowded traffic, I nearly ran down a woman and child who had walked right out in front of me. I was doing everything right and I was turning left after yielding to cross and through traffic, and I saw her standing on the corner, apparently waiting for cross traffic to pass, then out she came not bothering to look right or left. I jammed on the brakes. Yielding to pedestrians is a fine thing, but many pedestrians have forgotten what we learned as children; look right, left and right again and cross when clear. They assume that a driver has seen them.
