While I agree with police presence being needed on the beach to curtail drinking, I would oppose the use of Humvees to patrol. Years ago, when Humvee made their vehicle available to the public, Avalon Beach Patrol was loaned one to showcase at lifeguarding events. Although great in the sand, the vehicle had poor visibility and was dangerous for patrolling through the crowds, as children and blankets were frequently in blind spots, not to mention they just weren't comfortable. The quads work best for safety.
