It is easy to understand the NW spouter who asked, "I wonder what was the point of so many dying overseas? Isn't Vietnam a communist country today:" The 'Cold War' heated up several times between 1946 and the fall of the Soviet Union. Our mission in Vietnam was noble but poorly led. Politicians caused a pointless, and virtually un-winnable war to be fought. There can be no such thing as limited war. Us winning after the Tet Offensive, but political pressure and left-leaning press became roadblocks. Ask any Vietnamese who fled there, do they want Communism or democracy? History repeats itself.
