According to one spout, 62 percent of Americans own at least one dog. That means 38 percent of us don't own any dogs, and while lots of us love dogs and cats, we don't want one, and we don't want to put up with someone else's dog or that dog's mess, and lots of us don't want our beaches, parks, open spaces or sidewalks dedicated to our animal friends. We have enough of want and need in our human population to deal with first.
