It is offensive that a NW spouter said, "schools are the main culprit involved with influencing our children to sign up for the military," as if serving our country was equivalent to going to jail or joining a cult. Several generations of my family have served voluntarily. Yes, we fought wars, which was not glorious, but we did our duty, and we reaped the benefits, becoming mature, responsible citizens. We learned hard work, accepting responsibility and making decisions. We were able to attend college tuition-free and use our military skills to get good jobs. I am a proud GI son and dad.
