Wildwood is a resort and not a year-round residence, as some people claim. Ninety percent of the jobs in Wildwood are for the summer season only. Cape May County has the highest unemployment rate (18 percent) in the state. That is why Wildwood has so many people on welfare. High unemployment rates mean higher crime rates and more drug dealing. Many year-round jobs are now filled by illegal aliens. Many of the people who claim we need more low-income housing, are the same ones who moved here thinking there were year-round jobs.
