The Army is finally charging Sgt. Bergdahl with desertion. I am sure that after his miserable years in captivity, he has had ample opportunity to reflect on how bad his decision to desert was, and I don't see any value in incarcerating him. However, a dishonorable discharge and loss of pay and benefits is certainly appropriate. His bad judgment led to his own imprisonment, risk of death or actual death of his comrades, and the release of dangerous terrorists.
