There is no law or requirement for police to have their emergency lights and/or siren on when responding to a call, or exceeding the speed limit. Police go through many hours of training called EVOC so they are prepared to safely respond to calls. In fact, there are many situations when it is actually safer for traffic for a police car not to have its emergency lights on when responding to a call. So, next time a police car passes you without flashing any emergency lights, don’t be so quick to pass judgment. That cop might respond to help you one day.
