A full page was devoted to elicit sympathy for addicts in the Dec. 17 Herald. How about equal reporting on the victims of these addicts? I've had my front door kicked in and new TV stolen. Tools were stolen from my work truck. My porch furniture and everything in my yard has a chain around it. My wife and child are afraid, even with a dog in the house. How about asking these addicts how much they steal in a week? Ask stores in Rio Grande what theft costs them? When these addicts go before a judge and get treatment instead of jail, they're free to go right back to stealing and drugging.
