It is a crime to go into a store and take something without paying for it. It is a crime to order a meal at a restaurant and leave without paying for it. It is a crime to steal someone's property. So, why is it not a crime when a tenant agrees to rent a place, stops paying the rent and has to be evicted? Owing thousands causes great economic harm to the property owner. Then the property owner has to spend more money to go to court to try to recover what they've lost. This seems especially bad in Wildwood. Not paying rent is stealing and those who don't pay rent should go to jail.
