The Parkway, NJ Turnpike and AC Expressway should be transferred to the NJDOT, the tolls eliminated, and the highway authorities that currently maintain those highways dissolved. All three of those highways could be maintained for less by the NJDOT. So much of toll revenue goes to toll collection related expenses, like toll takers, toll enforcement, electronics, employees, etc. A slight gas tax increase to maintain these highways would be cheaper than tolls.
