Due to the budget shortfall in NJ, the Homestead Rebate tax reduction, normally applied to the August tax bills, will not occur this year. Instead it is being pushed ahead to the tax bill of May 1, 2015. More than 1.8 million people get this property tax rebate which totals more than $395 million a year.
