Congress needs to stop resisting cuts in defense spending. The defense budget shouldn't be a jobs program. We maintain military far larger than needed to protect us against threats that don't exist. Defense contractors and members of Congress that have been bought by them exaggerate and fabricate threats to justify spending billions on new weapons we don't need, just to create jobs in some states. We can slash the defense budget by half without jeopardizing national security in the least.
