A Villas spouter warns us to heed Thomas Jefferson's words that a government big enough to give us everything we want is strong enough to take everything we have. Instead, we suggest heeding these words from Jefferson, inscribed on his Washington, D.C. memorial: "... laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind." Jefferson correctly argues that institutions, government being one, must adapt and evolve as the human mind "becomes more developed, more enlightened," and as in society and the world, "new discoveries are made, new truths discovered."
