What a great staff letter in the Feb. 19 Herald titled: "What is Spout Off?" Essentially, it is an "unfiltered" format designed to allow and encourage citizen participation in the democratic process without "petty retribution" from those responsible for public business. As a Dennis Township resident, I find it quite interesting that anonymous spouts are read by 81,000 readers and 180,000 unique visitors per month online. Currently, there are about 250 spouts from all areas of Dennis Twp. which "stand on their own merits," revealing the wide-range of problems and dysfunctional government here.
