Our NJ DEP has created a new rule, the REAL Plan, which our Governor plans to attach to current rules by executive action. This will change the NJ flood zones by adding 5 feet of sea level for the next 75, effective 2025. Based on a 2019 Rutgers study, this data has a 17% probability rating. During this 75 year period, there will be no option to assess and adjust flood maps. This will put 67% of Lower Township in a flood zone. A change.org petition has been created and more information on protesting efforts is on the NextDoor site. Our State Reps had no vote on this DEP REAL Plan.
