Cape May

I heard a very interesting story related by the grandson of a scalloper during the WW2 era. Off the coast of Cape May as they were fishing, a German U boat surfaced next to them. The commander warned the crew not to radio anything, or they would be sunk. The crew politely asked for milk, and any vegetables they had. Apparently the smell that came from the open hatch was very bad. The scallopers shared what food they had, and were thanked by the Germans. The sub then slunk away. Needless to say, the crew radioed nothing until the reached port.
