I am in my mid-seventies. I have resources during my recent few decades that I did not have during the years I attended school. In grade school I was taught to recognize the difference between a Generalization and specific facts, ask Who, What, When, Where, Why. .Now I can fact-check and look at multiple news sources on my ipad. It is easier to sit back and let someone else tell us what Health Insurance to choose or who to vote for, than to use your own brain. Those that want to destroy our democracy are counting on your laziness.
