How does putting 30k undocumented immigrants in Gitmo, where we will pay to guard, house, feed them make it better for reducing the deficit? Not to mention the cost for ICE to round them up. According to the Institute of Taxation and Economic Policy (non-partisan) undocumented immigrants paid $96.7 Billion in 2022 in federal, state and local taxes. Strictly from a monetary perspective, won't it be better to let them continue to work and contribute into the tax base? The operating cost @ Gitmo, is enormous. This effort by the President is unwise, at any level. Thank you.
