A Herald headline “ICE’s Presence Stirs Fear in Hispanic Community” is a misnomer. The fear was stirred amongst those here illegally- ethnicity was not the determining factor. We have many, many residents of Hispanic heritage who are American citizens, born or naturalized. We have others who are immigrants, but here legally. The overwhelming number of our citizens are supportive of immigration, just not lawlessness. Those who panicked were those who tried to jump the line and circumvent the law.
