Some of the side streets in our local towns remained very icy so I understand the need of cancelling school for several days. No one wants the kids put at risk. However, snow days should really be a thing of the past. A day or two of virtual learning would be a better, more efficient alternative. Every teacher has an emergency enrichment lesson or two to leave for the sub in case they are unexpectedly absent. A couple of those could also be developed in advance for virtual snow days.
