Why do the stars need to bring politics into the Academy Awards?

Wildwood - Why do the stars need to bring politics into the Academy Awards? Isn't it ironic that so many of them are against walls when they live in gated communities? They all have large houses that could easily accommodate several refugees each but I don't see many takers.
