Wildwood - I was sitting on the beach July 18 one block north of the Convention Center and a child was having trouble at high tide and her parent was trying to get the busy, chatty female and male lifeguards' attention with no luck. The parent ran into the water and another good samaritan assisted. When I spoke with the guards and mentioned that the gully was very deep and they should be watching as it was very rough the male lifeguard said that's the "parent's job," not the lifeguard's job. The Wildwood lifeguards may be winning races, sleeping, and chatting instead of doing their "jobs."
