Wildwood - The editor's response to a West Wildwood spouter concerning hurricane relief for Puerto Rico was inaccurate. Puerto Rico pays most of the taxes that other states do to the federal government. Payroll taxes, Social Security taxes, business taxes, gift taxes, estate taxes, etc. Only income taxes seem to be excluded. In FY 2016, Puerto Rico paid $3.6 billion in taxes.... comparable to a state like Vermont which paid $4.5 billion. Puerto Rican citizens of the U.S. helped pay for disaster relief to Texas after Hurricane Harvey. The editor does a great disservice to Puerto Rico by stating that they are non taxpaying.
