Wildwood Crest - It's disappointing that Wildwoods' mayors decided not to ban smoking on their beaches. Apparently, they did not read the U.S. Surgeon General's Report of 2006 that states "Secondhand smoke is a health hazard with no safe level of exposure, even in the open, and that children are the most vulnerable." Their excuse that they won't be able to police it is weak since over 300 beach towns in the country are successful. Also, cigarette butts are toxic and are the number one littered item collected in the USA. It's time for the mayors to make the health of their citizens and visitors a top priority.
