Stone Harbor - This stationary fire alarm controversy boils down to one thing - they are not necessary. Volunteers carry pagers. Despite what some would have you believe, the pagers are more than effective. They work all the time. If my house were on fire, the sirens on the fire trucks would alert everyone between the fire department and my home; the stationary fire alarms are redundant and a health hazard. It seems like a misery loves company thing - if the volunteers have to be woken up, then everyone in town should be woken up, too.
