Stone Harbor - One easy way to improve bicycling safety is to start having police issue warnings to pedestrians walking in bike lanes. Pedestrians using the bike lanes, and especially ones who march directly in the center of the bike lanes, force bicyclists out into car traffic to pass them. Parents with young children in strollers should never be in the bike lane, as they are putting their children at risk of a collision. Pedestrians should remain on the sidewalks where they belong, but without any type of enforcement, they will continue placing bicyclists in danger.
