He got the worst case among his group, but four or five others with him also got hookworm. Many types of hookworm come from animal excrement (like dogs) being deposited in soil or sand. How many cases of hookworm being contracted from a Stone Harbor beach will be enough to ban dogs from the beach? And, does the town really want to wait for any case of hookworm before they do the right thing and ban dogs from our beaches?
