North Wildwood - The AARP is the latest heavyweight organization (with millions of members) to oppose the American Health Care Act (AHCA) now put forward by the Republican-controlled House of Representatives and endorsed by President Trump. The main reasons for non-support are drastically increased health care costs for Americans ages 50 to 64, and adverse impacts on medicare funding. Senior citizens are a big demographic whose votes elected Trump because of his promises to provide affordable care for everyone (better than Obamacare) and not touch Social Security and Medicare. Looks like Trump flat-out lied.

Moderator's Note:
A CNN article March 8 states, "The AARP issued a statement on Tuesday declaring its opposition to the health care bill touted by GOP leadership this week. ... 'This bill would weaken Medicare's fiscal sustainability, dramatically increase health care costs for Americans aged 50-64 and put at risk the health care of millions of children and adults with disabilities, and poor seniors who depend on the Medicaid program for long-term services and supports and other benefits,' said the letter, signed by Joyce A. Rogers, a senior vice president at AARP."
