Del Haven - We should never consider ourselves civilized until we provide safe crossing for turtles and other critters, protecting them from our killing machines called cars. I stopped in Dennisville recently to help a turtle across the road. When I put the turtle down safely, a homeowner called me a "nut." On another occasion, as I was crossing to pick a turtle up, a car sped in front of me (I was walking) and swerved to hit the turtle. Some humans seem to have some kind of built-in quirk that makes them think it's all about them. It's disturbing, and I can't understand the attitude.
